A Rigorous Blend of Academic and Practical Skills

UNC School of Law offers a broad legal education that will prepare students for whatever legal path they choose. We address the fundamentals of law early on, so students can customize their experience, building skill sets in practice areas of their own choosing.

We also offer abundant opportunities to put what is learned in the classroom into practice, with robust clinical and externship programs, centers and moot court teams, and an award-winning pro bono program.

Whether a student is interested in our J.D. program or one of our 10 dual degree programs, our challenging curriculum provides students with the courses needed to become future Tar Heel lawyer leaders. Partnerships with Duke University School of Law and North Carolina Central University School of Law make it possible for Carolina law students to take the classes they want if they are not offered here.

Our balance of demanding academics and learning-by-doing makes our students practice-ready and prepared for success whether they aim for private practice or public service, for corporate or government work, for a career at a national policy center or small-town practice.

With a Carolina Law degree, you can go anywhere.
