Certificate Programs

The law school participates in certificate programs offered by other units on campus. Those programs include:

Nonprofit Leadership Certificate Program

Hosted by UNC School of Social Work, the Nonprofit Leadership Certificate Program prepares graduate students for leadership roles in North Carolina's rapidly growing nonprofit sector and provides an in-depth examination of leadership issues within human services, education, the arts, and other nonprofit organizations.

Certificate in International Development

Offered under the auspices of the Center for Global Initiatives, this certificate program encourages students to step outside of the U.S. perspective when focusing on development, fosters interdisciplinary approaches to development, and engages students in peer learning.

Students enroll in four graduate courses on a topic related to international development and social change. At least two of these courses must be external to the student's home department or school and at least one should come from a list of core courses. The law school permits its students to enroll in six, rather than the customary three hours, outside of the law school, and those six hours are counted toward the 86 hours required for graduation.

Law school students should obtain approval of the associate dean for academic affairs for each course taken in another school.
