| Students will look at the greenhouse gas trading systems that have been set up in response to climate change controls, and how they work. In particular, the class will examine the economics of environmental control, the basics of commodity trading, greenhouse gas control mechanisms, existing systems of greenhouse gas trading (European Emissions Trading System, California system, Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative), and the emerging US federal system. The class is co-taught (by video-conferencing) with the Global Energy Management Institute at the Bauer School of Business at the University of Houston. |
