Description:

This 3 credit-hour survey course will provide an overview of laws touching the rights of people with disabilities in the United States. We will emphasize the Americans with Disabilities Act (as amended) and the Rehabilitation Act, specifically their provisions regarding access and equality in employment, education, housing, and public accommodations. Several classes may address the disability civil rights movement, international developments in disability rights, disability issues in the legal profession, and current developments in disability policy. As part of the course, participants will have opportunities to apply access standards and regulations, meet disability rights leaders, and enhance their statutory interpretation skills.
