This course will teach the law and practice of issues related to asylum and refugee law. It will cover international treaties and protocols as well as federal statutes and regulations governing asylum and refugee claims. Students will also work in teams with attorneys and their clients who are seeking asylum in the United States and whose cases are pending before the Immigration Court in North Carolina or the asylum office in Arlington, Virginia.
