Trial Advocacy runs for nine weeks, instead of the full semester. There is an intensive session - required for all students enrolled in Trial Advocacy - that is always held the weekend prior to classes starting. The classes usually start on Thursday evening and run the entire weekend until Sunday at 6:00 p.m.

After the intensive classes, there are six Thursday afternoon lectures from 4:15 to 5:45 p.m. and, except for the first week, five weeks of performance classes that are scheduled for one class each week. The performance classes are two and one-half hours long and are conducted by the same teacher who led your section during the intensive session. Each student will also be part of a team participating in a full mock trial. The last two to three weeks of the course are devoted to the full mock trials. For more detailed information, you may contact the trial advocacy coordinator.

Juror Information

Students are required to find jurors to assist in their trials. Jurors are volunteers, and are NOT compensated for their time. Traditionally students pool their money together to provide refreshments and food for the jurors. The trial advocacy coordinator is not responsible for finding jurors. The trial advocacy coordinator is available to take calls and will have a list readily available for students as needed. The number of jurors needed is determined by your trial advocacy teacher.
