Academic Excellence Program

Full-time faculty members who teach within the law school also provide academic success services in UNC’s nationally recognized Academic Excellence Program.

The UNC School of Law understands that the needs of law students generally vary according to their stage of legal development. The Academic Excellence Program aims to help students maximize their potential to learn and succeed in law school and in their professional career.

The learning opportunities are varied and reach students at all stages of their legal education:

  • Incoming first-year students may choose to participate in a multi-day structured pre-orientation program called LEAP.
  • All students may participate in a variety of general academic excellence services, including interactive workshops, smaller enrichment groups, learning style assessments, and individual and group academic counseling.
  • Third-year students and alumni can participate in an innovative bar examination preparation program.
