Work Description

Description of Organization: The North Carolina Conservation Network is a statewide network of over 100 environmental, community, and environmental justice organizations. The NC Conservation Network works to strengthen the environmental community by facilitating coordination of campaigns, providing updates and analysis of bills and rules, and directly advocating to achieve equitable and sustainable solutions for our environment.

Description of Student Work/Projects: Externs will perform legal research and policy analysis on environmental issues concerning North Carolina. Specific projects will depend upon the needs of the organization and the interests of the extern, and may include topics such as renewable energy, shale gas, offshore drilling, air quality, water quality and water quantity.

Course or Other Requirements/Preferences for Student: Strong research and writing skills, and a demonstrated commitment to environmental issues. Coursework in environmental and administrative law will be helpful.
