The most interesting issues that we are working on now that would appeal to an extern involves innovative ways of paying for climate adaptation that involve local government authority and “aggregating”. We have started thinking about some new mechanism that we could use that integrate local government assessment authority, insurance companies, and private contributions that have a number of local government finance issues. Another appeal of this type of research/work is that it would give us opportunity to work with Victor Flatt and others at UNC working on similar issues.

Extern should have a demonstrated interest in environmental law and local government.
