Work Description

Participate in an initiative to provide a dashboard view of our most important contracts to senior supply chain management. Activities will include interaction with business clients to determine the information they want and the best way to present that information. In addition, we will be reviewing the most significant supply chain agreements and determining the best methods to help the business use this information to obtain better terms where necessary.

Potential Project Areas:

Legal-Supply Chain Operations: Provide legal support to Global Supply Chain Management (GSM).  Negotiate a wide variety of contracts (e.g., Manufacturing Purchase Agreements, Original Equipment Manufacturer agreements, Original Design Manufacturer agreements, etc.).  Also serve as a trusted advisor and partner to GSM in taking responsibility for Cisco innovation from the drawing board to the customer, whether it’s complex, high-end, configure-to-order products or high-volume commercial goods. Significant focus on effectively simplifying supply chain contracts and contracting process, successfully managing contract manufacturers, and creating inventive ways to recover value from returns—all while striving to positively impact Cisco’s top and bottom lines while effectively managing legal risks.  Intern will be expected to:  •  Use and interpret templates, draft memoranda and business documents related to supply chain management and collateral matters •  Legal research related to supply chain topics and other corporate supply chain interests • Assist in development of new contract templates and new contracts management processes •  Participate in and help prepare for cross-functional meetings with business groups and other members of the legal department  • Assist in contract negotiations with attorneys and commodity managers. 

Cisco Capital Pre-Owned Equipment: Provide legal support to the Cisco Capital line of business known as Pre-Owned Equipment, which refurbishes and sells Cisco-branded products on the secondary market through Cisco-authorized partners and wholesale brokers. Intern will be expected to:  • Use and interpret templates, draft memoranda and business documents related to Pre-owned Equipment transactions and collateral matters • Assist in development of new templates • Assist in integration of POE Legal and compliance processes with Cisco Legal contract management processes  • Assist in negotiation of contracts with partners and brokers • Perform general research on regulatory compliance and related issues as it relates to used technology equipment. 

Americas Enterprise & Commercial (AEC) Sales:  Provide legal support to largest single sales segment in Cisco.  The AEC Legal team supports all aspects of Cisco product and services sales in the U.S., with a range of Cisco customers from large, well-known enterprise customers, to small business customers.   Primary areas or responsibility will include:     • Use and interpret templates, draft memoranda and business documents related to sales transactions • Assist in development of new contract templates and clauses • Research key compliance areas to support Cisco’s dynamic business • Assist in negotiation of contracts with partners and customers.
