DESCRIPTION OF ORGANIZATION:    The Health and Public Assistance section is responsible for providing legal support to the agencies that are charged with the implementation

of a multitude of complex public health and welfare programs. This section is responsible for advising and representing the state agencies that oversee public health, aging and adult services, social services and medical assistance programs. Issues relate to welfare programs, AIDS and other communicable diseases, child abuse, restaurant and institutional sanitation, on-site sewage systems, food-borne outbreaks, elder abuse, child support enforcement, Medicaid, rabies, vital records, asbestos hazard control, lead poisoning in children, foster care and food stamps.
