Work Description

Please describe briefly the nature of the work performed by your organization:

Full service Intellectual Property Counsel, including patents (preparation, prosecution, enforcement and defense), copyrights, trademarks, trade secret, license negotiation and mergers and acquisitions.

Please describe the types of projects you anticipate assigning to student externs:

Working with inventors for invention review, analysis of adverse patents, ensuring copyright clearance or clean title to software and documentation, evaluation and advising clients on the use of social media in the corporate world, trademark clearance.

Please indicate any preferences or requirements as to course work you would like a student to have completed (e.g. Administrative Law, Environmental Law, etc.) and whether a particular skill or experience would be helpful to a student working with your organization. In addition, please indicate whether a student extern working with you will need to be certified under the State Bar Student Practice Rule.

An engineering background is a must. It would be helpful to have knowledge or classes in at least one of patent law, copyright law, cyberspace law or trademark law.
