Immigration and citizenship work

The extern would review records of proceedings and draft briefs to the Board of Immigration Appeals for visa denial cases. The extern would research various issues that arise in connection with federal court litigation or case adjudication. The extern would review naturalization applications wherein the applicant has removal grounds that may be applicable, and assess whether a notice to appear (initiating removal proceedings) should be issued as a matter of prosecutorial discretion. The extern may be involved in reviewing or drafting NTA charges for removal even though CIS is not primarily an enforcement organization. The extern would have an opportunity to observe immigration court and discuss cases with ICE counsel.

Completion or enrollment in immigration law helpful.
