Work Description

Legal Aid of North Carolina is a statewide, nonprofit law firm that provides free legal services in civil matters to low-income people in order to ensure equal access to justice and to remove legal barriers to economic opportunity.

Legal Aid of North Carolina seeks one or two 2L or 3L externs for a placement with our Raleigh office. The chosen externs will assist with daily tasks of our office, which focuses on the essential civil legal needs of low-income North Carolinians. The experience will include substantial  direct client contact, factual case investigation, legal research and writing, and/or the drafting of legal pleadings and discovery, as well as the possibility of representation  in administrative  or district court hearings depending on schedules and the status of third-year practice certification.  We ask our externs to commit to be onsite I  or 2 days per week in our office, which is located at 224 S. Dawson Street

Certification helpful but not required.
