Work Description

DESCRIPTION OF ORGANIZATION: The Labor Section provides legal representation and advice to the North Carolina Department of Labor regarding personnel issues, State personnel grievance matters, and employment discrimination. The Labor Section also enforces laws protecting employees around North Carolina.

DESCRIPTION OF STUDENT WORK/PROJECTS: Students will help in the preparation of Retaliatory Employment Discrimination Act, Occupational Safety and Health Act, Wage and Hour, and personnel grievance cases for litigation. Preparation includes, for example, reviewing files, research, and writing drafts.

COURSE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES FOR STUDENT: One extern will be accepted per semester.
