Work Description

DESCRIPTION OF ORGANIZATION: Prosecution of criminal matters for Chatham County.

DESCRIPTION OF STUDENT WORK/PROJECTS: Extern will assist in interviewing witnesses, prepare cases for trial, and try district court cases. The extern will also do some research, for example search and seizure issues. Prefer externs be available on a Wednesday or Thursday.

General Court Schedule:
Tuesdays - District Court, Siler City
Wednesdays - District Court, Pittsboro

1st Thursday of the Month - Traffic Court; Siler City am, Pittsboro pm
3rd Thursday of the Month - Juvenile Delinquency Court

Superior Court Trial Sessions - generally 2nd week of the month
Superior Court Administrative Sessions - 3rd or 4th week of the month ( Monday/Thursday )

COURSE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES FOR STUDENT: Trial advocacy, criminal law, criminal pre. Student will need to be certified under the Third Year Practice Rule.
