Work Description

DESCRIPTIONS OF ORGANIZATION:  The Institute of Government, a part of the School of Government, seeks to improve the lives of North Carolinians by engaging in practical scholarship that helps public officials and citizens understand and improve state and local government.  Faculty members teach, advise, and write for Institute clients, but we do not represent them.  For more information, see  Laurie Mesibov specializes in public elementary and secondary school law. She has been on the faculty since 1984.

DESCRIPTION OF STUDENT WORK/PROJECTS:  Research and writing in public school law, including assistance for supervisor.  Opportunities to observe teaching by Institute faculty members and other instructors; assistance with publication of School Law Bulletin; discussion of specific questions asked by clients; contact with school administrators if needed as part of projects.
COURSE OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES FOR STUDENT:  Constitution law and education law preferred.
