DESCRIPTION OF ORGANIZATION: Glaxo Smith Kline is one of the largest pharmaceutical research and development companies in the world. It markets prescription drugs in the areas of AIDS, asthma, allergy, herpes, depression, migraine, oncology, and dermatology. Glaxo Wellcome in the Research Triangle Park is the US headquarters of the London-based parent company.

DESCRIPTION OF STUDENT WORK/PROJECTS: In the general Legal Department projects may be assigned from a variety of legal areas which impact a pharmaceutical research and development company, including: FDA, Medicaid reimbursement, anti-kickback, litigation, commercial transactions, antitrust, etc.

COURSE OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES FOR STUDENT: Will take one extern per semester.
