Work Description

DESCRIPTION OF ORGANIZATION:           Attorneys in the Division of Legal Affairs advise the president, Board of Governors, administrators, constituent institutions, and affiliated entities of the University of North Carolina. 

DESCRIPTION OF STUDENT WORK/PROJECTS:    The student will gain experience in a dynamic, in-house environment and gain exposure to a broad range of legal issues.  Practice areas include administrative law, constitutional law, contracts, employment law, litigation, regulatory matters, student issues, and transactional matters.  The student may attend Board meetings; conduct legal and policy research; draft memos, correspondence, and legal documents; engage in client counseling; participate in policy making and legislative work; assist with system-wide compliance matters; and participate in internal and system-wide committees and council meetings.

20-hour week preferred; 2L preferred in summer
