DESCRIPTION OF ORGANIZATION: This office is a quasi-judicial agency of state government which provides a forum for a prompt and impartial resolution of disputes involving various state agencies, including NC Department of Administration, NC Department of Corrections, NC Department of Health and Human Services, and NC Department of Environment and Natural Resources. DESCRIPTION OF STUDENT WORK/PROJECTS: Student will perform research and writing projects under the supervision of administrative law judges. Student will also attend hearings, settlement conferences and rule making hearings. We also hear special education cases involving exceptional children throughout the state of NC. Student will interact with state agency officials.

COURSE OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES FOR STUDENT: One extern will be accepted per semester.
