Applicant Checklist

It is YOUR responsibility as an applicant to ensure that our Office of Admissions receives everything it needs to make your file complete.

However, as a courtesy, we will contact you when information is missing that prevents your file from becoming complete. To help facilitate this process, we ask that you disclose your e-mail address within your application. As your e-mail address changes, it is also your responsibility to notify us.

Required Elements

• $75.00 application fee OR UNC School of Law Application Fee Waiver Form or a copy of an approved LSAC fee waiver granted for the 2012-13 application cycle
• Residency form (if claiming North Carolina residency for tuition purposes). This form is required of everyone who is claiming residency regardless of how long you've lived in North Carolina.
• Resume or a comprehensive listing of your activities, accomplishments, and awards
• Personal statement (double spaced, no less than 10 point font). This should be no more than four total pages for the required questions and no more than four additional pages for the optional questions for a possible total length of eight pages.
• Responses (and explanatory statements, if applicable) to all "Conduct, Character, and Fitness" questions.
• Credential Assembly Service (formerly LSDAS) Report with LSAT score
  • All undergraduate, graduate, and professional transcripts should be sent to LSDAS
  • A minimum of 2 Letters of Recommendation (maximum of three) should be sent to LSAC

International applicants will also need to submit the following

• Foreign Financial Ability Form
• Residence Status Supplemental Form (if you are claiming residency in North Carolina, you must also submit the long form for North Carolina residency).
• TOEFL Score (for international applicants whose native language is not English)
• JD CAS Evaluation (for international applicants who have undergraduate work completed outside of the United States)
