The Office of Scholarships and Student Aid establishes a cost of attendance budget for students to help us determine the total amount of aid for which you are eligible. This budget includes tuition and fees, as well as allowances for living expenses, books and supplies, transportation, and miscellaneous expenses. You may receive financial aid up to your total COA budget. Adjustments will be required if the total of all of your scholarships, grants, and student loans exceeds the budgeted amount.
There are some situations when we may be able to increase your COA budget for education-related expenses so that you will be able to borrow student loan money to cover the cost. We may increase your COA budget to include the purchase of a computer and peripherals (a one-time adjustment during the course of your law school career, limited to a maximum of $2,500), to provide for childcare expenses, or to accommodate excessive medical expenses. There is no specific form to complete; submit a written request with supporting documentation (itemized receipts or invoices). For additional information, please contact Vanda Chou.
Tuition and fees are assessed by semester. To view your bill, log on ConnectCarolina; bills are not mailed. For payment options, visit Student Account Services.
Responsibility. Accounts not paid in full by the due date are subject to cancellation of registration.
Deferment. If you are a financial aid recipient, you may defer payment by selecting the option in the Finances drop down menu in ConnectCarolina. This is only applicable to current charges, as past due charges are immediately due.
After all current student charges have been satisfied by aid, any remaining credit balance will be refunded directly to the student.
Direct Deposit. The fastest method of refund is through direct deposit. Select Refund Delivery in the Finances drop down menu in ConnectCarolina to enroll.
Students who officially withdraw from the University within nine weeks from the start of the term may receive a prorated refund of the tuition and fees paid that semester. View Important Dates at Student Accounts for the withdrawal schedule.
Impact on Aid. If the student is an aid recipient, we may be required to return all or part of their student loans and any scholarships when they officially withdraw.
