Michael J. States has been the assistant dean for admissions at the University of North Carolina School of Law since August 2004.

Dean States was the associate director of admissions and financial aid at The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois, from August 1997-August 1999. He then moved on to become the director of admissions at the Hamline University School of Law from August 1999-December 2003. He served as the assistant dean for enrollment management at the Stuart Graduate School of Business from January 2004 until joining the University of North Carolina School of Law in August 2004.

He has served as the president of the Midwest Alliance of Law School Admissions (MALSA), and as the chair of the American Association of Law Schools Subcommittee on Pre-Legal Education and Law School Admissions. He is currently a member of the Law School Admission Council's Finance and Legal Affairs Committee and a presenter for the Council on Legal Education Opportunity's (CLEO) Achieving Success in the Application Process program.

A native of St. Louis, Missouri, he received his B.A. in political science from the University of Kansas and his juris doctor from St. Louis University School of Law.

Ms. Kott is the Director of Admissions at The University of North Carolina School of Law at Chapel Hill.  She received her B.A. in Sociology from Elon College (now University) in Elon, North Carolina.  Over thirteen years ago, Ms. Kott began her commitment to a career in higher education by joining the admission stafff at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Savannah, Georgia, where she served as the New England States Admission Representative.  In 2000, she accepted the position of Manager of the Co-op MBA program at Northeastern University Graduate School of Business Administration in Boston, Massachusettes.  Here she was responsible for marketing, recruiting, admission and enrollment for the full time program.  Ms. Kott joined the staff at Tulane University Law School in July 2003 as Admission Counselor and became Assistant Director of Admission and Recruitment shortly thereafter.  During her time at Tulane Law School, Ms. Kott was the recipient of the 2007 Distinguished Staff Award and is a proud survivor of Hurricane Katrina.  Her service with the Law School Admission Council (LSAC) began as a panelist at the Annual Meetings and Conferences.  Most recently, Ms. Kott is a member of the National Recruitment Calendar Work Group and a member of the Misconduct and Irregularities Subcommitee with the Law School Admission Council.  Ms. Kott also serves the community as a youth soccer coach for the Kernersville Family YMCA in Kernersville, North Carolina.

Lisa D. Inman has been an assistant director of scholarships and student aid, and the director of law school financial aid at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill since March 2009. 

Prior to assuming her current role, Ms. Inman served as a financial aid officer at the Duke University School of Nursing, from August 2007 to March 2009. Her previous financial aid experience also includes serving as a financial aid counselor and information resource center coordinator at Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY, from August 1998 to February 2000; and first as an office assistant and then as the assistant director of financial aid at Dean College in Franklin, MA, from October 1994 to May 1996.

Ms. Inman's additional experience in higher education includes prior work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, serving as a community director from August 2000 through June 2007; additional work at Dean College, serving as a resident director and coordinator of multicultural student services from August 1994 through June 1996; and work at Smith College in Northampton, MA, serving as a head resident from August 1993 to May 1994.  

Ms. Inman received her A.B. in theatre and English language and literature from Smith College and her M.A. in higher education, with a concentration in college student personnel, from The University of Arizona in Tucson. She is currently working on an M.S. in enrollment management and a graduate certificate in personal financial planning.

P.J. Gallo is an Admissions Counselor at University of North Carolina School of Law.  Before this, he was employed as a Writing Instructor at Borough of Manhattan Community College.  He received an M.F.A in Poetry from The New School and a B.A. in English from Virginia Tech.
