Alumni Mentor Program
The Mentor Program matches first year law students with professionals who will be available to share information with students on an array of topics ranging from insights regarding practice area or profession to interviewing and networking skills. The role of a mentor is to be an adviser - you are not being asked to help a student find employment. You can be a mentor whether you are practicing in North Carolina or California. Contact Louise Harris, assistant dean for alumni and special programs at 919.962.1592 or louise@unc.edu.
Class Reunion Representative
The School of Law typically celebrates reunions at the 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 and 50 year mark after graduation. It takes a high level of involvement from your classmates to make the reunion a success. Contact Louise Harris, assistant dean for alumni and special programs at 919.962.1592 or louise@unc.edu.
On-Campus Interviews
If you work for an employer who does not currently recruit on-campus at Carolina Law, but is large enough or close enough to do so, please urge them to consider on-campus interviewing. If you are the only Carolina Law graduate at your employer, consider volunteering to come to campus yourself to interview (we will happily coordinate dates with the basketball and football games!). Another way to recruit at Carolina Law is through a resume collection, where the Career Services Office collects resumes from students interested in working in your area and sends them to you for review. Depending on the response, you could interview the interested students at your office or on-campus. Contact Kala Glenn-Pruitt, recruiting administrator for CSO, at 919.962.0280 or kvglennp@email.unc.edu.
Small Employer Job Fairs
For alumni working in smaller firms and organizations, CSO participates with the career services offices at Duke, Wake Forest, Campbell and North Carolina Central law schools to host two small employer job fairs each spring in Eastern and Western North Carolina. These fairs give firms with 15 or fewer attorneys and other organizations an opportunity to interview law students from all five North Carolina law schools for summer and full-time job opportunities on a single day. Contact Kala Glenn-Pruitt, recruiting administrator for CSO, at 919.962.0280 or kvglennp@email.unc.edu.
Public Interest Summer Job Fair
Carolina Law hosts a public interest job fair each February. Over 25 employers from across North Carolina interview Carolina Law students interested in public interest for summer positions. Contact Brian Lewis, assistant dean for career services, at 919.962.1023 or brian-lewis@unc.edu.
Career Night
This event brings together first-year law students with attorneys from a variety of practice areas. The event serves as a forum for students to learn about different areas of the law while also providing them with an informal environment to talk to attorneys and gain insights about the practice of law. We are looking for at least 50 Carolina Law alumni to participate in this event and to ensure its success. Contact Kala Glenn-Pruitt, recruiting administrator for CSO, at 919.962.0280 or kvglennp@email.unc.edu.
