Private Violence, Public Impact: A Panel Discussion with Attorneys about Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault in practice and in our communities
As part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Domestic Violence Action Project will host a panel of local attorneys who work in areas of law dealing with domestic violence and sexual assault. The panel will discuss how these crimes impact our local and national communities, the role that the legal system has in the overall picture, challenges and trends, impact of technology, etc.
The panel will be moderated by Professor Beth Posner, and expected speakers include:
- Amily McCool- North Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence
- Joe Polich- North Carolina Coalition Against Sexual Assault
- Sherry Everett- previously with Legal Aid of NC- Domestic Violence team and now in private practice focusing on victims of domestic violence
- Surabhi Gawande- Kiran (Domestic Violence services for the South Asian population)
