Rumpus Room 3000

The Christian Legal Society welcomes Justice Willis Whichard in the Rumpus Room for lunch and conversation about faith and the law. A double tar heel, Justice Whichard attended UNC for both his undergraduate studies and law school. Justice Whichard graduated from UNC in 1962 and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Order of the Golden Fleece, Order of the Grail, and Order of the Old Well. He obtained his Juris Doctor from UNC in 1965, where he served on the Board of Editors for the North Carolina Law Review and was a member of the Order of the Coif and Phi Delta Phi.
Justice Whichard is the only person in the history of North Carolina who has served in both the state House and the state Senate and also sat on both the Court of Appeals of North Carolina and the North Carolina Supreme Court. Prior to beginning his political career, Justice Whichard was in private practice in Durham for many years, and he is now a partner at Tillman, Hinkle, & Whichard, PLLC in Chapel Hill, NC.
In addition to practicing law, Justice Whichard, along with Congressman Mike McIntyre, founded the McIntyre-Whichard Legal Fellows Mentorship Program through the Christian Legal Society. This mentorship program has been a huge success, and we look forward to many more successful years to come!
