Description: Professor Arnold Loewy 's "The Two Faces of Insanity: On the Criminal Insanity Defense" addresses "...whether [the criminal insanity defense] is an excuse for criminal defendants designed to exculpate otherwise guilty people, or whether it is a device used by the Government to inculpate otherwise innocent people."  This event features Professor Loewy and Professor Michael Corrado debating the subject.

Professor Loewy taught at UNC School of Law for 38 years and is a Graham Kenan Professor of Law Emeritus.  He is currently the George R. Killam Jr. Chair of Criminal Law at Texas Tech University School of Law.

Professor Michael Corrado is Arch T. Allen Distinguished Professor of Law here at UNC. He teaches torts, criminal law, comparative law and philosophy of law.
