The UNC Sports and Entertainment Law Association's Third Annual Alex Finamore Memorial 3X3 Basketball Tournament is happening on Friday, October 5th. The cost is $10/person, which accounts for player registration and a networking dinner following the tournament. In addition to UNC Law, Duke Law, Elon Law, NCCU Law, Wake Law, Campbell Law, and Charlotte Law are all also invited to take part in the tournament.

This tournament is held in memory of Alex Finamore. In his 3L year at UNC Law, Alex was the Vice President of SELA and helped organize the inaugural tournament in 2010 (originally called the "UNC vs. Duke 3v3 Basketball Tournament"). He tragically passed away shortly after the holiday break on January 6, 2011, just 5 months short of his graduation from law school. UNC Law is determined to continue this tradition in his honor.

Signup will be occurring in the Rotunda Monday, 9/24 to Friday, 9/28 from 12:00-12:50, Monday, 10/1 to Thursday, 10/4 from 11:00-2:00 and Friday, 10/5 from 12:00-12:50. Games will be 15 minutes or the first to 21 points (1 point per shot, 2 points per 3-point shot). Last year, the event included pool play for all teams followed by a championship bracket. We expect to include consolation brackets this year so all teams can play as many games as possible and more teams will attend the networking dinner. The school with the winning team will receive the Alex Finamore Memorial Trophy to display in their law school for the year to celebrate their victory.
