On Election Day, November 6, 2012, the UNC Center for Civil Rights will host a non-partisan Election Protection statewide hotline from 6:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. The Pro Bono Program and BLSA are helping to coordinate the hotline. The North Carolina call center will be staffed by UNC Law community members and will take place in the CDO suite at the School. Hotline volunteers will assist voters across the state.

Interested volunteers must attend one of two trainings (not both) and will learn:

  1. relevant election law,
  2. how to address voter concerns,
  3. how to work the call system.

The two trainings will take place on Tuesday, October 30th from 6:30-8 p.m. OR Friday, November 2 from 6:30-8 p.m. Volunteers need only attend one of the trainings.

Volunteers will be expected to sign up for at least one two hour shift (shifts start at 6 a.m. and end at 8 p.m.: 6-8, 8-10, 10-12, 12-2, 2-4, 4-6, 6-8)

Interested volunteers should e-mail Alexandria Bryant (UNCBLSASERVICE@gmail.com) with the following information:

    1.      Preferred training date

    2.      Preferred volunteer shift(s)

    3.      Onyen and UNC email address
