Once again, UNC Law Public Service Programs and Legal Aid of North Carolina are partnering to hold a Pro Bono Divorce Project this Fall and Spring. Students will have the opportunity to represent low-income clients in simple divorces. They will interview clients, draft pleadings, and conduct divorce hearings under attorney supervision.

Please note that this project is open only to 2L and 3L students.

The following additional dates are important for anyone interested:

October 23, 12-1:  Basic Training Session

October 29th from 5:30-8:  “Divorce Clinic” in which students will interview clients and execute pleadings.

Friday, February 28th beginning at 11 am:  “Divorce Judgment Day” in which students will conduct divorce hearings in the Law School courtroom before an Orange County District Court Judge.

Anyone interested in participating should email Dean Novinsky at snovinsk@email.unc.edu.

To participate in the Pro Bono Divorce Project you must be able to participate in the training on October 23th from 12-1. You must also be available for the October 29th “Divorce Clinic” and the February 28th “Divorce Judgment Day.”
