Off-Campus Interview Programs

Students at Carolina Law are invited to participate in more than 30 off-campus interview programs each year, giving them access to employers who do not ordinarily participate in on-campus interviews or who are seeking students with specialized credentials or characteristics. EXTENT
Southeastern Intellectual Property Job Fair

This job fair was created by the Georgia State University College of Law to satisfy high student and employer interest in the specialized field of intellectual property. While some employers may seek patent lawyers only, the Georgia State University College of Law Southeastern IP Job Fair is not a "patent lawyer" interview program exclusively. The broad field of "intellectual property" includes litigation, prosecution and transactional work in various aspects of IP,  encompassing patent, trademark and copyright law in the fields of technology, science, business, media, arts and entertainment, sports, etc. The fair is held in July with registration in the spring.

Patent Law Interview Program

Held each year in Chicago, the Patent Law Interview Program is a national program that brings together current law students with technical backgrounds and legal employers interested in hiring law clerks and entry-level attorneys for their patent or intellectual property law practices.  The interview program is typically held in August, with registration in early spring.

Equal Justice Works Career Fair and Conference

Held each October in Washington, D.C., the Equal Justice Works career fair draws public interest employers from all over the country to interview law students for summer and postgraduate positions.

American Intellectual Property Law Association Job Fair

Western NC Interview Program

Seven North Carolina law schools and the North Carolina Bar Association have joined forces to sponsor the Western North Carolina Interview Program.  The fair is held in late March or early April of each year.

Texas Interview Program

The Texas Interview Program is a joint venture of the University of North Carolina, Wake Forest University, Washington & Lee, and William and Mary law schools and provides interview opportunities for students seeking employment in Texas.  The program is held in August and registration is mid-June to mid-July.

New Hampshire Legal Job Fair

The New Hampshire Legal Job Fair is a regional fair, bringing together employers from New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont with students from all over the country who have an interest in living and working in Northern New England.  The job fair is typically held in September.

National Law School Consortium Washington, DC Job Fair

Vault MCCA Legal Diversity Career Fairs

Vault (a source of career information for law students and associates) and the Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA) produce a series of career fairs for law students and lateral associates. The goal is to connect top legal employers with the best and brightest minority, female and GLBT law students and lateral associates. Employers attending include law firms and corporate counsel.

Twin Cities Diversity in Practice 1L Summer Rotation Clerkship

This program is a collaboration of law firms and corporate law departments seeking to enhance the diversity of the legal profession.  The program connects top legal employers with talented 1L students of color who will have the opportunity at one of the nation's best law firms with a rotation in the law department of a major corporation. Tri-State Diversity Recruiting Program

The Tri-State Diversity Recruiting Program offers 2Ls and 3Ls the opportunity to interview for summer associate and entry-level positions with prominent regional (KY, IN and OH) and national employers.  The program is hosted by Greenebaum Doll & McDonald PLLC, and is held in August.

Southeastern Minority Job Fair

The Southeastern Minority Job Fair provides interviewing opportunities to students from over fifty law schools across the country.  More than 130 employers regularly participate.  The fair is held in early August, with registration in the summer. 

Rocky Mountain Diversity Legal Career Fair

The Rocky Mountain Diversity Legal Career Fair enables employers from law firms, corporations, public interest organizations, the judiciary and federal, state, and local government agencies to meet a diverse group of law students and recent graduates with an interest in the Rocky Mountain area. Northwest Minority Job Fair

North Carolina Bar Association's Minorities in the Profession Summer Associate Program

The Minorities in the Profession Summer Associate Program is designed to provide corporate legal departments and major law firms in North Carolina with an inside track on recruiting some of our state's brightest and most talented law students of color for the summer after their first year in law school.  Applications are due mid-January of the student's first year, interviews are held in February, and decisions are made by the end of February.

National Black Prosecutors Association Job Fair

The NBPA invites all interested law students, as well as alumni, to attend their job fair, which provides a unique forum where minority law students, recent law graduates, and experienced attorneys from across the nation can meet and interview with prospective prosecutorial employers at the local, state, and federal levels. The fair takes place during the National Black Prosecutor Association's Annual Conference each summer.

Minnesota Minority Recruitment Conference

The Minnesota Minority Recruitment Conference is a program sponsored by the Twin Cities Committee on Minority Lawyers in Large Law Firms. The conference is aimed at hiring second and third-year law students of color from around the country for law firms, corporations, and government agencies located in Minnesota. Law students from all ABA-accredited law schools are invited to attend. The Conference is typically held in August.

Lavender Law Conference and Career Fair

Lavender Law invites all firms, corporations and public sector employers committed to the hiring, retention and promotion of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender law students and lateral attorneys to participate in its annual Lavender Law Career Fair and Conference. Heartland Diversity Legal Job Fair

The Heartland Diversity Legal Job Fair (HDLJF) is sponsored by of Kansas City's leading law firms and legal organizations, and is designed to encourage law students to practice law in Kansas City. The HDLJF is designed to expose law students of diverse backgrounds to both the traditional and non-traditional legal employer. Students are invited to participate regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, religion, age, sexual orientation, nationality or disability. Rising second and third-year law students and recent grads are invited to attend. The job fair is typically held in September, with registration beginning in April.

DuPont Minority Job Fair

Delaware Minority Job Fair for Second and Third-Year Students

The Delaware Minority Job Fair is organized by a consortium of the Delaware State Bar Association's Committee for Diversity in the Legal Profession as well as legal employers interested in recruiting talented minority lawyers for the purpose of increasing diversity in the Bar. The job fair is open to second and third-year law students seeking summer and permanent positions. The job fair is held in late summer or early fall with registration in the spring.

Delaware Minority Job Fair for First-Year Law Students

Dallas Bar Association MABDI Minority Recruiting Program

The Dallas Bar Association has worked with the major law firms in Dallas over the last several years to enhance recruiting of minority law students to the Dallas area. This Minority Attorney Business Development Initiative (MABDI) Minority Recruiting Program was established to assist the participating law firms in recruiting from a larger pool of minority candidates and to provide opportunities for minority students to reach a larger number of firms in a systematic way.

Council on Legal Education Opportunity Mid-Summer Career Fair

Cook County Minority Job Fair

The Cook County Bar Association ("CCBA") proudly established the CCBA Minority Law Student Job Fair twenty-five years ago recognizing the need to bridge the employment gap between law firms, non-profit, government agencies and minority law students in the Chicago legal community. The first annual CCBA Minority Job Fair was held in 1983 on the campus of a local Chicago law school and included approximately 100 students and approximately 20 employers. This even has evolved in to the highly-anticipated diversity recruitment even that consistently attracts more than 900 law students and 100+ employers every year. We are only inviting J.D. students in current 1Ls/rising 2Ls and current 2Ls/rising 3Ls. Please note that students graduating in any month prior to December 2009 (current 3Ls) are not eligible.

Charlotte Legal Diversity Clerkship Program

The Mecklenburg County Bar coordinates this highly competitive summer program for first-year law students who advance the value of diversity. The clerks will spend the first six weeks of the twelve-week program working in the Charlotte office of one of the participating law firms and the second six weeks working in the Charlotte law department of one of the corporate partners. Applications are typically due in early February.

Boston Lawyers Group Job Fair for Students of Color

Interested second and third-year law students of color are encouraged to register for the job fair via BLG's website in late March. The job fair is held in August.

Bay Area Diversity Career Fair

Season: Summer

The Bay Area Diversity Career Fair brings together prominent law firms and government legal departments in the San Francisco Area with highly qualified diverse rising 2Ls.Registration starts on May 4 and ends on June 15. Students are pre-screened for interviews so they will know whether they have interviews prior to traveling to the program. There is a reception on August 7. Interviews take place on August 8.
