Services for Graduates of Other Law Schools
Note: Due to recent high demand and the current state of the legal market, UNC Law's Career Services Office has instituted a temporary freeze on granting reciprocity to students and graduates of other law schools. This freeze is effective until further notice.
For attorneys who graduated from ABA-accredited law schools other than UNC School of Law, the Career Services Office offers a policy of "reciprocity," allowing these attorneys to utilize the Career Services Office library resources and access to our online graduate job postings on Symplicity. Reciprocity does not include access to student job listings, job fairs, on-campus interviews, counseling services or resume and cover letter review. Reciprocity is limited to third-year students and graduates seeking permanent employment in North Carolina, except at the discretion of the Assistant Dean.
To obtain reciprocity, the law school from which the individual graduated or will graduate must send an email to Adam Ronan in the Career Services Office, verifying the graduation date of the attorney and requesting reciprocity. The email must also indicate that the law school will grant Carolina Law alumni, upon request, the same reciprocity privileges offered by UNC School of Law. Non-alumni attorneys must wait until they have received an email from the Career Services Office granting reciprocity before they visit. The Career Services Office reserves the right to grant or deny reciprocity services based on the demands of Carolina Law students and alumni. Between August 1 and December 1, reciprocity will be denied due to the demands of fall recruiting.
