Reciprocity Policy
- Reciprocity is limited to third-year students and graduates seeking permanent employment in North Carolina, except at the discretion of the Assistant Dean.
- Services are available to third-year students and graduates of those ABA accredited law schools outside of North Carolina which permit the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law students and/or alumni substantially similar access to their career services facilities. Services will not be provided if the third-year student or graduate has received reciprocity from another North Carolina law school.
- Reciprocal services are extended for a period of three months to each individual. Due to the demands of the fall semester, requests for reciprocity will be denied between August 1 and December 1.
- Requests for services must be made in advance, via email, by a career services official. The request should state that the requesting school will make similar reciprocity services available to UNC students/graduates. Following receipt of a response from our office, the student or graduate may contact the CSO to arrange a mutually convenient time to visit the office, except as limited in #3 above.
- Reciprocal services include the following:
- Access to general career and employer information in the CSO Resources Suite;
- Internet access to employment postings on Job Bank, updated daily. There is a one time charge of $30 to obtain a password. Make your check out to UNC School of Law and send your check to Mr. Adam Ronan, in the CSO. (Please include your email address when you mail your check so that your password can be emailed to you.)
- Consulting appointments with the CSO staff may be available at the discretion of the Assistant Dean.
- Reciprocal services exclude on- and off-campus interviews or resume collects with prospective employers.
- The student or graduate must state in his or her cover letter to any employer that the job listing was received from this office through a reciprocal agreement between the student or graduate's school and UNC School of Law Career Services Office.
- The Assistant Dean has the discretion to review each request independently and to make the decision to grant or deny services of the office based on the demands of UNC School of Law students and/or alumni.
- The Assistant Dean may deny further services to individuals who misuse the facilities or services.
Please email all inquiries and requests for reciprocity to Adam Ronan, Office Coordinator, Career Services Office.
