Melissa Hyland is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Law and Reference Librarian at the Kathrine R. Everett Law Library. She teaches Advanced Legal Research and focuses her reference work on faculty research services.

Professor Hyland graduated summa cum laude from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with degrees in History and Education. She then completed her J.D. with honors at the University of North Carolina School of Law. Following law school, she practiced law in Charlotte, NC, working at a firm in the commercial litigation and employment law practice groups.  She earned her M.S.L.S. at the University of North Carolina School of Information and Library Science. Professor Hyland is a member of the American Association of Law Libraries and currently serves on the ALL-SIS Faculty Services Committee and the RIP-SIS Legal Research Competencies Committee.
