Professor Saver previously served as Associate Professor of Law and Co-Director of the Health Law and Policy Institute at the University of Houston Law Center. The Order of the Barons honored him as Professor of the Year in 2003-04. Following law school, Professor Saver clerked for Judge Eugene Wright on the United States Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit. After his clerkship, Professor Saver practiced in the health law department of McDermott, Will, & Emery in Washington, D.C. He then served as Associate General Counsel for the University of Chicago Hospitals and Health System, working on a variety of regulatory, transactional, and patient-care issues. He also served as counsel to the University of Chicago's human subjects research review committee (the University's Institutional Review Board). Professor Saver also lectured on health law topics at the University of Chicago Medical Center.

Professor Saver joined the UNC faculty after serving as Visiting Associate Professor of Law at UNC in the spring of 2009. His research interests include health law, nonprofit organizations, and torts. He teaches a variety of health law courses and Torts for first-year students. He has published articles in law reviews, medical journals, and other interdisciplinary publications. His co-authored book, HEALTH LAW AND BIOETHICS: CASES IN CONTEXT, a behind-the-scenes look at the leading cases in the annals of health law, was published by Aspen Publishers in 2009.

Professor Saver received his B.A. summa cum laude from Harvard University in History and Science (Biology) and his J.D. with distinction from Stanford Law School. He was a member of the Stanford Law Review.
