Nick Sexton attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he majored in both English and Religious Studies. He graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Law in Chapel Hill in 1999. In 2004 he earned his M.S.L.S. from UNC-CH. He teaches Advanced Legal Research and Introduction to the Law of the United States. He is co-author of "The North Carolina Legal Research Guide, Second Edition."
