Janine Zanin is a Clinical Associate Professor of Law at the University of North Carolina School of Law. She joined the faculty in 2006. She is the Assistant Director and a Faculty Supervisor in the Externship Program, as well as teaching Professional Responsibility. She is a regular presenter at national Externship conferences and a co-creator of a CLE on ethical supervision.

Professor Zanin earned her B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in International Studies and French. She graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law, where she was the student note editor of the South Carolina Environmental Law Journal and was awarded the Order of the Wig and Robe. Following law school, she practiced in the New York City Housing Court as a Court Attorney to the judiciary and served as a Senior Court Attorney in the New York City Criminal Court from 2000-2004 providing legal counsel on city-wide matters in the Office of the Chief Court Attorney. She also served as Court Attorney and Law Clerk to the Honorable Alex M. Calabrese at the Red Hook Community Justice Center, one of the nation’s first community courts and a joint project of the Center for Court Innovation and the New York State Court System.  Prior to joining the faculty at UNC, she was a staff attorney at North Carolina Prisoner Legal Services in Raleigh.

Professor Zanin is licensed to practice law in New York and North Carolina.
