The course examines both traditional and modern approaches to choice of law, with emphasis on the problem of determining what the standards ought to be and why, as well as on the existing state of the law. In this part of the course, consideration is necessarily given to the problem of figuring the limits of authority of governments. The course also examines constitutional limitations on choice of law, reviews the law of personal jurisdiction, and addresses issues raised by efforts to enforce out of state judgments.
