Description:
Family Law Practice is a 2-credit course that enables students to learn about the practice of family law, as well as to apply family law doctrine in a series or practice-oriented exercises. The goal of coordinating with the Family Law course is to allow students simultaneous learning about the doctrine and practice of family law. Students learn to interview clients, prepare a divorce complaint, interrogatories for equitable distribution and spousal support claims, conduct negotiations regarding these claims, draft prenuptial and separation agreements, and prepare for trial on family law issues. Students also learn about collaborative family law practice and other alternative forms of dispute resolution.

Related Courses:
The course will be coordinated with the spring semester Family Law course although, the course is open to students who have taken Family Law in the past taught either by Professors Eichner or Lau.
