The course uses a series of role playing exercises, readings and discussion to teach the skills involved in interviewing and counseling. Occasionally, an outside individual is invited to the class. In addition, both mental health professions and lawyers from the community are brought in to observe the students and give them feedback.

The course will meet for 11 weeks plus Saturday, Oct 13, 2012 (from 9 to 4) which will take the place of two classes. The weekend class allows for participation from both lawyers and mental health professionals to come in and observe the students and impart suggestions based on their practical experience.
