An in-depth study of the various strains of feminist theory that have applicability in the law, including formal equality theory, radical feminism, cultural feminism, critical race feminist theory, postmodern feminism, and the intersection between queer legal theory and feminism. The course includes an analysis and application of feminist theory to selected areas of the law, including violence against women; reproductive rights; work-and-family and other carework issues; pornography; women and education (including legal education); and women in the workforce (sex segregation in employment, pay equity and sexual harassment).
