By examining selected legal topics, this course will provide an opportunity for students to explore the gender implications of the U.S. health care system. Topics may include: women as patients and doctors, reproductive rights and new reproductive technologies, clinical research, domestic violence, and insurance coverage. Related Courses: This course will draw on some of the concepts that are introduced in the introductory health law courses, Health Law Bioethics and Quality of Care and Health Law Organization, Regulation and Finance. Because the course is designed to foster independent research by students in their own areas of research, however, it is suitable for anyone with an interest in the field. Prerequisites: Mandatory: None. Recommended: Health Law Bioethics and Quality of Care or Health Law Organization, Regulation and Finance (or prior experience in the health care field) may be helpful, but are not required.
