Holderness Moot Court 1L Competition

Kelly Mathews 1L presents his oral argument during the 1L Holderness Moot Court Tryout Competition before a panel composed of three justices from the North Carolina Supreme Court: Justice Robert H. Edmunds Jr. '75 (left), Chief Justice Sarah Parker '69 (center), and Justice Paul Newby '80 (right).

Mathews was the winner of this year's Aycock Award, which goes to the winner of the oral advocacy portion of the 1L Holderness Moot Court Tryout Competition. The annual competition is managed by 2L and 3L students of the Holderness Moot Court teams and their faculty sponsor, Donald T. Hornstein, the Aubrey L. Brooks Professor of Law. This event is made possible by the generous sponsorship of Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP.
