Apply Now - Deadline extended to February 15!
Applicant Checklist
Beginning October 1, 2007, Carolina Law will begin accepting applications for our fall 2008 entering class. There are two ways you can apply to Carolina Law. First, you may apply electronically by using the e-application process provided by the Law School Admissions Council (LSAC). Or, you may print an application from this Web site using Adobe Acrobat and submit it by mail. Regardless of the method you choose, you must submit your application and all required materials to the School of Law before the February 15, 2008-deadline (note: this is an extension of the original February 1 deadline). LSDAS materials do not need to be received by the law school by February 15.
To be most competitive for merit-based scholarships, applicants are strongly encouraged to apply by December 31, 2007. Consideration for scholarships is automatic; there is no additional application for scholarships, and recipients will be notified in the spring.
Please note that before your application can be considered, the Office of Admissions must have received:
- Your official signature. If you are applying with the paper version, please be sure to sign the application. If you apply using the LSAC electronic application, you will be prompted to print a certification letter after submitting your electronic application. Sign this page and send it in along with your payment.
- A check or money order in the amount of $70 (payable to and mailed to the UNC School of Law) for the non-refundable application fee. We do not accept credit card payments at this time. The School of Law honors LSAC fee waivers; please submit a copy of your LSAC fee waiver in lieu of a check or money order.
- Scores from every Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) taken before or after submission of the application and reported through the Law School Data Assembly Service (LSDAS).
- Transcripts of grades from all colleges, universities, graduate and professional schools attended, as reported and processed through LSDAS.
- Two letters of recommendation, as processed through LSDAS. A third letter of recommendation is optional.
- A copy of your personal statement and resume.
- A completed North Carolina Residency Application Form, if you are claiming residency for tuition and admission purposes. If you apply electronically, you will have the opportunity to download the application. Please submit this form with your signed certification letter and payment. You may also access the form here: Residency Short Form

Fee Waiver
The University of North Carolina School of Law will grant a waiver for the application fee in cases of EXTREME financial need. You will be contacted by e-mail once a determination regarding your fee waiver request has been made. If your fee waiver request is denied, your application is incomplete until the application fee is received.
Applicants who have received LSAT/LSDAS fee waivers from the Law School Admissions Council for the 2007-2008 application cycle will automatically receive a fee waiver from UNC School of Law upon submitting a copy of the granted fee waiver with their applications to UNC.
Please note that the "Application for Fee Waiver Form" (available at the link below) MUST be submitted WITH an application for admission. It is not possible to receive a decision regarding a fee waiver request prior to submitting an application for admission.
