Applying as a Visiting Student
The University of North Carolina School of Law only accepts applications to visit as a full time (at least nine credit hours) student.
A student currently enrolled at another law school and entering their last year (you are not allowed to visit as a 1L or 2L student), may apply as a visiting student (non-degree candidate) for the fall and/or spring term by submitting the following:
- Application for admission. Electronic applications are available at www.lsac.org. A paper copy of the application is also available.
- $70 application fee in the form of check or money order, made payable to the UNC School of Law.
- A letter of good standing from the dean at your current law school.
- An official transcript, sent directly to the Office of Admissions, reflecting law courses completed and grades received from all law schools attended.
- Two (2) letters of recommendation.
- A statement of the reason for visiting, in lieu of the personal statement.
- A resume or comprehensive listing of experience and achievements.
We will begin accepting applications for students who wish to visit in the fall 2010 and/or Spring 2011 semesters on May 1, 2010. The application deadline is June 15, 2010, and grades for courses completed after that date must be submitted to the Office of Admissions as soon as they are available. Admissions decisions are made after mid-July.
