Course Load

Tuition and Fees
$290.00 per credit hour for resident students ($870 for a three-credit course), and $550.00 for each credit hour for non-resident students ($1650.00 for a three-credit course). Tuition/fees are due Monday, April 27 for students who participated in early registration ending April 3 (bills will be mailed to students). Tuition and fee payments may be mailed to the University Cashier, Suite 2215 SASB North, CB 1400, 450 Ridge Road, Chapel Hill, NC 27599-1400.
Registration
Registration begins at 8:00am Thursday, March 26 and ends at 7:00pm Wednesday, May 13. To avoid a $20 late registration fee, all UNC and visiting students must register before May 12 and visiting students should allow sufficient time for administrative processing of summer school registration forms. UNC law students register using the web registration system (http://studentcentral.unc.edu/). If you have questions about registration, please contact the Law Registrar's Office.
Students who do not register by April 3 will be required to pre-pay tuition/fees or provide proof of financial aid prior to registration. The last day to drop a course for financial credit is May 18 (the student remains enrolled in one course). The last day to withdraw from school for partial financial credit is May 29 (withdrawing means no courses remain on the student's academic record for the summer session if the proper withdrawal paperwork is completed).
Visiting Student Admission
No formal application is required. Students from law schools other than The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill must provide the following to the Law School Registrar: a Summer 2009 registration form (online) and a letter from the student's dean or registrar certifying good standing and the maximum number of credit hours for which the student is permitted to register. Those who intend to claim North Carolina residency for tuition purposes must also submit a residency application (available in Adobe PDF format).
It is recommended that the Summer 2009 registration form, letter of good standing, and residency application be received ASAP beginning in March in order to be considered for early registration. Visiting students who do not register by April 3 will be required to pre-pay tuition/fees or provide proof of financial aid prior to registration.
