Summer Session Course Load

Students may register for up to two courses. Registration for a third course is considered an overload and is permitted only if authorized by the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.

Summer Session Tuition and Fees

$290.00 per credit hour for resident students ($870 for a three-credit course) and $550.00 for each credit hour for non-resident students ($1650.00 for a three-credit course).

Summer Session Visiting Student Admission

No formal application is required. Students from law schools other than UNC-Chapel Hill must provide the following to the School of Law Registrar's Office:
  • a summer 2009 registration form (online);
  • a letter from the student's dean or registrar certifying good standing and the maximum number of credit hours for which the student is permitted to register;
  • a North Carolina residency form IF claiming North Carolina residency for tuition purposes.

It is recommended that the Summer 2009 registration form, letter of good standing, and residency application be received ASAP beginning in March in order to be considered for early registration. Visiting students who do not register by April 3 will be required to pre-pay tuition/fees or provide proof of financial aid prior to registration.
