Mission
The mission of UNC School of Law Pro Bono Program is to assist attorneys who provide high quality, low-cost legal services to individuals in need and to create a life long commitment to pro bono work among UNC Law students. In furtherance of our mission, we have adopted the following goals:
- Increase provision of high quality, low-cost legal services to NC residents in need;
- Empower working attorneys to accept more pro bono cases; and
- Create a life-long commitment to pro bono work among law students.
ABA Model Rule of Professional Responsibility 6.1
Every lawyer has a professional responsibility to provide legal services to those unable to pay. A lawyer should aspire to render at least 50 hours of pro bono publico legal services per year.
Please Note
This website is intended to provide information and support to the law students of UNC and the attorneys and organizations associated with the UNC School of Law Pro Bono Program. We do not provide direct help to the general public. If you have a legal problem that you are seeking direct legal assistance for, please check the North Carolina Bar Association's Referral Service.
