Equal Justice Works Career Fair Information Session

Attention 2Ls and 3Ls Interested in Public Interest Employment!
This Info Session will discuss the Equal Justice Works Career Fair (for national public interest organizations) and registration process. Students who attended last year will also be there to talk about their experiences.
Career Fair: Registration
for the Career Fair is now open. The deadline to submit resumes to

Sign up for the Public Interest Peer Mentoring Program!
The School of Law offers a Public Interest Peer Mentor Program that
matches first-year students interested in public interest work with
like-minded second- and third-year students. Students are matched up
based on practice areas of interest, among other factors.
Mentors meet with their mentees on an individual basis throughout
the year and serve as a resource to help with the transition to law
school, share experiences and answer questions about public interest
careers. The program also schedules a variety of group social activities
each year, including the Annual Chili Dinner, brown bag lunches, a
spring picnic and other events.

Apply for the Pollitt Fellowship at the ACLU in Raleigh!
This fellowship was established in 1992 to honor the work of retired UNC Law Professor Dan Pollitt. Professor Pollitt was a long time board member of the North Carolina ACLU and is an ardent member of the civil rights movement. This fellowship provides a UNC law student with an opportunity to work for social and economic justice in North Carolina.Each year one 2L or 3L Carolina Law student receives the Daniel Pollitt school year fellowship that allows the student to work at the ACLU in Raleigh approximately 10-12 hours per week each semester. The exact schedule is worked out between the recipient and the Executive Director of the ACLU; some work may be done remotely. The recipient will be paid $1,500 (minus taxes) per semester. If interested, please submit your resume, transcript, cover letter, and a short writing sample (in hard copy or by email) to Sylvia Novinsky, Assistant Dean for Public Service Programs by Monday August 29. A small pool of applicants will be submitted to the ACLU which will make the final decision on the recipient. The main criteria upon which Fellowship selection is based are interest in civil rights and a demonstrated commitment to social justice. Top half of the class is preferred.
