Lawyering Lab: Criminal Law/Indigent Defense Focus

Law 427

Writing Experience (WE)

The Lawyering Lab is a space where students and practitioners work together to brainstorm solutions to difficult legal issues that practitioners are facing in a pending case. A different practitioner will join the class each week. This course requires students to spend significant out of class time familiarizing themselves with the weekly case materials. It also requires a willingness to work in “law firms” with three or four classmates to research, discuss and craft possible solutions for each issue that arises. Working in firms, students are expected to prepare a preliminary memorandum before each class. Each firm will be responsible for a final project. Each student must maintain a dairy based on weekly prompts.
